The Giant and the Hocotatian

Summary

Crossover between Stargate SG-1 and Pikmin. First person, the point of view changes between the ***. Daniel and Olimar meet on the Pikmins Planet.

The Giant and the Hocotatian

This Daniel surprises me. He's been on the Pikmins Planet for 5 days and he's already found shelter, food and, most surprisingly, he's learned Hocotatian only by making me talk as much as possible! This giant later explained to me that he was educated and able to learn alien languages, but still! He must be a god.

***

Olimar. Sorry, Captain Olimar is a resourceful Hocotatian. Not only did he survive the crash of his spaceship, but he tamed creatures native to this planet, whom he named Pikmins, to help him survive and find the parts for his ship. Unlike me, his time is limited. The air on this planet is full of oxygen. What's good for a human is poisonous for a Hocotatian. Olimar has less than 10 days to repair his ship, find all the parts he needs and leaves. Otherwise, he'll die. I want to help him. Especially since I have made him waste precious time by trying to learn his language, by trying to communicate with him. I've also accidentally caused the death of several Pikmins by stepping on them. They've had it in for me ever since, and if Olimar hadn't whistled them into order, they'd be attacking me incessantly to avenge their fallen comrades. Olimar refuses all help. Why?

***

Daniel wants to help me, but I always refuse. A divine being like him has no reason to help a pathetic insect like me. Anyway, it's my spaceship, my problem, my survival. It's up to me to take care of everything. Me and my Pikmins. Daniel can go back to his planet. He did come here in a giant spaceship, didn't he?

***

Why is he so stubborn? His life is in danger. He needs all the help he can get. I can't go back to Earth, anyway. This planet doesn't seem to have a Stargate. I'll talk to Captain Olimar. I'm stuck here, so I might as well help, right?

***

Daniel explained his situation. Like me, he's a prisoner on the Pikmins Planet. Unlike me, his life is not in immediate danger. He can breathe without any problems. He really wants to help me, and I don't want to suffer his wrath. So, we team up. He may tell me he's not a god, just a man from planet Earth, but I don't believe him.

***

It's too easy for me to find the spaceship parts. I just have to be careful not to crush any more Pikmin or Olimar on the way back to the S.S. Dolphin. At this rate, the Captain will be safely back on his planet before the remaining 8 days are up.

***

It's a miracle. My life support has 5 days left and all the parts of the S.S. Dolphin have been found! The Pikmins have gotten used to Daniel's presence and are no longer trying to attack him. That's a good thing. Now I can go home, back to my family!

***

I watch the S.S. Dolphin take off. I breathe a sigh of relief. Captain Olimar is safe. Me? I'll survive. There are edible berries, herbs, roots and drinking water. The predators of this planet can do nothing to me. I'm far too tall. The rest of SG-1 will find me, one way or another.

***

I'm approaching Hocotate. I think of my wife Pedrina, my teenage son Omar, my little girl Opal, Bulbie. Of Daniel. Daniel, alone on the Pikmins Planet. Daniel, who may never see his kind again. And me, taking the easy life with my family. NO! I make a U-turn.

***

Daniel, you're an idiot. How could you not have seen that Stargate and that DHD this whole time?! Well, I was busy helping Captain Olimar, but still! I'll just have to look around. The seven symbols must be somewhere.

***

I'm approaching the Pikmins Planet. Hang on, Daniel, I'm coming!

***

I've found them. I use the DHD without delay. When the blue vortex forms, I smile. I can go back to Earth. I just hope they won't close the iris. I walk to the Gate.

***

My ship is in the sky over the Pikmins Planet. I see Daniel, but he's disappeared into some kind of blue liquid. It's madness, but I'm following him. I am not abandoning him!

***

I'm back at the base on Earth, but why do I see the S.S. Dolphin passing by me and flying around the room? Captain Olimar didn't follow me, did he?

"Captain Olimar!" I shouted, hoping I was the victim of a hallucination.

"Daniel, I am glad to see you!" Olimar replies in Hocotatian.

I sigh with discouragement.

"Fool! Earth's air is poisonous to you! Why on earth did you follow me through the Stargate?"

"Ah... So that's it... I was worried about you!"

The Stargate closes behind me.

"It seems I'll have to stay on your planet for a while." Olimar said, as he lowered his spaceship to the ground.

I sigh again. Captain Olimar on Earth. It wasn't meant to happen! At least his life support has 5 days left, if the passage of time on the Pikmins Planet and on Earth is the same.
